July 2026 - Guobing Liu and Kevin Chung: SNMMI’s Ones to Watch

SNMMI’s Ones to Watch campaign is a showcase for rising talent in the field, offering a platform to increase recognition for early career professionals within our specialty. As the field continues to expand, a new wave of talent is at the forefront. This is the 8th year of the SNMMI One’s to Watch program. The concept originated from the Early Career Professionals Committee in 2018 and the first group of Ones to Watch were announced in spring 2019. The SNMMI Ones to Watch campaign aims to recognize those with the potential to shape the future of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging across all spectrums of this cutting-edge specialty.

Dr. Kevin Chung has made impactful contributions to total-body kinetic modeling, developing new techniques on the EXPLORER total-body PET/CT system to quantify blood–brain barrier permeability from a single dynamic scan and pioneering a high-temporal-resolution kinetic-modeling approach that measures total-body blood flow from the widely available 18F-FDG tracer. Dr. Guobing Liu, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Chief Physician in Nuclear Medicine at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University (Shanghai) and a visiting postdoctoral scholar at UC Davis, is advancing the clinical translation of total-body PET/CT—spanning low-activity, fast, and multi-tracer imaging; dynamic and parametric PET; image derived pharmacokinetic analysis; and organ dosimetry.
